I got this for my 3.5 yr old for Christmas and he loves it but the only game that you actually use the keyboard with is the one that comes with it. It is compatible with all the smartridges that go with the regular v smile but you might as well just get the regular v smile since there aren’t any other game specifically for this product. They only use the joystick and the color buttons for all the other games. My son was sad because he wanted to use the mouse instead of the joystick and it won’t let him with the other games, only with the game that came with it. We got it for him because he likes to play games on the internet and we wanted our computer back but he still prefers out computer. I’m hoping that its just so new that they haven’t made any games for it yet. The leap frog version of this has tons of games that go with it. I would have bought the leap frog one if i had known. This one was on sale though so i guess thats what i get for going cheap.

I bought this for my 3.5 year old for Christmas. He loves to type “notes” on our computer so I thought this would be perfect. Not so. He can’t type anything, just use the mouse to pick things. He’s not interested in the keyboard games because they are basically matching the letter on the screen with the letter on the keyboard. The “art” section is hard to navigate with the pen and the pictures are too detailed. I also bought this on sale and wish I had gone with the more expensive competitor. After thinking about it, I would take a star off each for fun and educational, but I couldn’t.

As others have mentioned, only one game works with the keyboard & we haven’t been able to get any of the other v-smile games to work with the console & joystick, so for now we are stuck with one game only. The paint stick is hard to control. V-tech needs to make the games interchangeable.

I bought this and a Pocket V-Smile brand new from Toys R Us for my kids for Christmas this past year, and by May both were dead. The PC Pal lasted barely five months, and the Pocket V-Smile lasted only three. Within the same week, both units just died – they fail to power on either with batteries or AC Adapter. And now we have seven coasters that used to be game cartridges (fortunately most of them were bought used so the amount of wasted money isn’t as bad as it could have been).
Needless to say, the reliability of VTech products is pathetic, to say the least. While they were functional my kids had fun with them, but I’d never throw good money after bad by buying another one.

I got this for my son for his 3nd birthday. i got three games for it. he loved the games and was real excited.. then it stopped working at first we thought it was the batteries but after trying different batteries we realized it just died and stopped working. The good news is all the games we bought can be used with the v tech handheld also and you can plug that into the tv too, he loved the hand held more so Im actually glad the other one broke.
